Susana Mira Leal holds a PhD in Education, specialized in Portuguese Teaching Methodology, a Master in Supervision and a licence degree in Modern Languages ​​and Literatures, Portuguese-English teaching. She is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the University of the Azores (UAc) and Vice-rector for Communication, External Relations and Internationalization of the institution, having already served as Pro-rector for External Relations and Cultural Extension, Pro-rector for External Relations, Society and Lifelong Learning and Director of the Department of Educational Sciences.

She is the author and co-author of several books, chapters in books, articles in journals and proceedings of international and national events, having supervised dozens of theses and dissertations and participated in dozens of academic juries. Her path in teaching, research and supervision of academic research is carried in the field of ​​Education, with focus on teacher training, Portuguese language methodology, and the impact of pedagogical supervision and action research on teacher training, professional development and school success.
