Ana Paula Gil has a PhD in Sociology, specialization in Development and Social change, by the School of Social Sciences and Humanities (FCSH) of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Since 2010, she is Assistant Professor at NOVA FCSH. She was the coordinator researcher of the study Ageing and Violence (2011-2014), funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) (SFRH/BPD/46014/2008). She is carrying out a research project entitled Ageing in an institution: An interactionist perspective of care (SFRH/BPD/107722/2015). Her academic interests include ageing, long-term care and family care, and elder abuse.
