Dulce Pimentel is a geographer and a researcher at the Interdisciplinary Center of Social Sciences (CICS.NOVA) of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. She is assistant professor in the Department of Geography and Regional Planning of NOVA FCSH. She develops her research on geodemography and migrations, with projects, publications and thesis supervisions in these fields. She integrated the Board of the Portuguese Geographers Association, the e-Geo - Center for Studies in Geography and Regional Planning and also the Instituto de Dinâmica do Espaço. She is Corresponding member of Cybergeo European Journal of Geography.

Geodemography. Migrations. Cities. Local and regional development.


Main Projects:

  • 2016-present: Research team member of the Project "La crise dans le sud de l’Europe : Conséquences sur les tendances démographiques et les politiques sociales" (coord. INED, Institut National d'Études Démographiques, France);
  • 2010-2013: Research team member of the Project "Beyond failure and machiavelism. The illegal Portuguese emigration to France, 1957-1974" (PTDC/HIS-HIS/103810/2008);
  • 2008-2013: Research team member of the Project “Geographic modelling: theories, models and praxis", within the Strategic Research Group Geographic Modelling, Cities and Spatial Planning at e-GEO - Centre for Geographical and Regional Planning Studies, Universidade Nova de Lisboa;
  •  2002-2007: Member of the research team of the Project "Development Sustainability of the Portuguese Regions", at e-GEO Centre of Geographical and Regional Planning Studies, Plurianual Funding Programme of the Units of Research, Foundation for Science and Technology (European Union POCTI-FEDER).
