Iva Miranda Pires is an associate professor at the Nova School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universidade Nova de Lisboa. She holds a degree in Geography, from Universidade de Coimbra and a PhD in Human Geography, from Universidade de Lisboa. She teaches at the Sociology Department and coordinates the master and the PhD programs in Human Ecology. She is the President of the Society for Human Ecology (SHE). Her main scientific areas of research are human ecology and sustainable development and social and economic geography.
