Raquel Faria de Deus is graduated in Geography from Universidade de Coimbra in 2002 and completed a Ph.D. degree in Geography and Territorial Planning – specialization in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems from Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (UNL) in 2015, which was funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology and awarded the 2015-2016 National Prize of Geography Orlando Ribeiro from the Portuguese Association of Geographers. She is interested in interdisciplinary approaches to Geography and fostering research and action processes at local level. Her scientific and academic path has been based on two important dimensions: she is a Human Geographer and a GIS and Remote Sensing expert. Both aspects of her work are critical, and she work to maintain both interdisciplinary connections in Geography.
