Rui Santos was born in Lisbon in 1958, where he lives to date. He is graduated in History (1981) by the Universidade de Lisboa, is master in Historical Economic Sociology (1987) by the Nova University of Lisbon, and is doctor in Sociology (Historical and Economic) (1996) by Universidade Nova de Lisboa. He is Associate Professor in Economic Sociology at the Nova School of Social Sciences and Humanities of Universidade Nova de Lisboa (NOVA FCSH). He lectures in Economic Sociology, Historical Sociology and Research Methodology. He is integrated researcher at CICS.NOVA and associate researcher at IHC, Centre for Modern History, both in NOVA FCSH.

Research Interests:

Theory and Historical Sociology of Property Rights (mainly applied to rural societies and agrarian contracts). Education
