Next May 2nd, at 2:30 p.m., the seminar “Facebook Policy Concerning Hate Speech” will take place in a hybrid format – in person, in the Sala de Atos of the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho, and online, through the Zoom platform. The seminar will be led by Professor Anna Leszczuk-Fiedziukiewicz (University of Bialystok) and moderated by Professor Ana Maria Brandão (ICS-UM and CICS.NOVA.UMinho).
?? ???? ????????-?????????????? is a Polish sociologist from the University of Bialystok (north-eastern Poland). Her research focuses on media and social communication. She has written many scientific articles on topics such as: (i) Hating and Trolling in social media based on the example of Facebook; (ii) Social activities concerning combat to hate speech in Poland; (iii) Artificial Intelligence in the fight against hate speech; (iv) Social campaigns concerning cyberbullying; (v) Internet as a tool to create political image and reputation; (vi) Image of celebrities’disease in media (cancer and depression of famous people); (vii) Tabloidisation of political campaigns (members of Parliament, presidential);(viii) Scandals and debates in public discourse; (ix) Image of coronavirus Covid-19 in Polish media. She lectures in many course such as Criminology, Sociology, Security and European Studies.
?? ??? ????? ???????? completed the PhD in Sociology in 2008 by the University of Minho, the MA in Human Resources Policies and Management in 1997 by the ISCTE-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa and the BA in Sociology in 1991 by the University of Porto. She is a Researcher in the Interdisciplinary Centre of Social Sciences (CICS.NOVA.UMinho) and Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology of the University of Minho. She was Deputy Director of the Department of Sociology of the University of Minho. She is the Editor of Configurações: Revista de Ciências Sociais and Director of the MA in Sociology of Gender and Sexuality in the University of Minho. She published 17 articles in journals, 8 sections of books and 4 books. Organized 28 event(s). Participated in 27 events. Supervise(d) 7 PhD theses and co-supervised 2. Supervised 13 MA dissertations and 62 works of BA course completion. Participates and/or participated as Principal investigator in 2 projects, Research Fellow in 2 projects and Researcher in 2 projects. Works in the area of Social Sciences with emphasis on Sociology and of Economics and Business with emphasis on Business and Management. In her professional activities, she interacted with 49 collaborators co-authorship of scientific papers. Her main research interests are gender, sexuality and identities, as well as social research methodologies.
