On April 28, 2025, a GEICS Conference will take place, in an exclusively virtual format, dedicated to the theme of Ibero-American Democratizations in the 20th Century: the discourse of the Portuguese and Brazilian press during political transitions. The meeting will be mediated by Doctor Vinícius Zuanazzi (CECS and ICS-UM) and Doctor Camila Kieling (Intercom).

Vinícius Zuanazzi is a PhD candidate in Communication Sciences at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho and an FCT scholarship holder. Master in Social Communication from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS – Brazil) and graduated in Journalism from the same institution. He was part of the Editing, Culture & Design Laboratory (LEAD), linked to the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS – Brazil), as a Scientific Initiation scholarship holder, between 2018 and 2019, where he contributed to investigations on journalism, city, memory and culture, financed by CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development). He is currently a researcher at the Center for Communication and Society Studies (CECS), at the University of Minho, and is part of Passeio – Urban Art and Culture Platform, linked to CECS.
Camilia Kieling holds a PhD in Social Communication from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (2017), a Master’s in Social Communication (2010) and a Bachelor’s in Journalism (2003) from the same University. Postgraduate in Environment and Sustainability from Fundação Getúlio Vargas – FGV (2023). Southern Regional Director of Intercom (2023-2026). Coordinator of the Communication and Sustainability WG: environment, organizations and society at Intercom Sul. She has experience in coordinating editorial projects and producing content for sustainability reports. In teaching, he worked in undergraduate and graduate courses at PUCRS and UFRGS, teaching subjects focused on communication, journalism, print media, graphic production, culture and sustainability. She was Assistant Editor of Famecos Magazine and was part of the Pedagogical Innovation Center at Famecos/PUCRS. He received 3rd place in the Freitas Nobre Award (Intercom, 2019) and a travel grant from IAMCR (2017). She is part of the Fluímos social impact project collective and is the owner of Guilda Editorial.
