The recently created RG6 resulted from the development of a wide and diversified set of research projects and teams of researchers who were mostly based on RG1 (Social Inequalities and Public Action). The number of researchers and their scientific production in the specific field of education, knowledge and culture reached such numbers that justified making it an autonomous group.

Underlying the diversity of projects we can find a common framework based on the strong relationship between fundamental research – with a robust theoretical basis – and applied research, which permits that the theoretical input values empirical research and even action research projects.
