Karl Bruckmeier is a retired professor in human ecology from the University of Gothenburg and the National Research University – Higher School of Economics, Moscow. He has a diploma degree in Sociology and a doctoral degree (Dr. rer. pol.) from the Free University of Berlin. He was teaching human ecology and sociology in Gothenburg and Moscow, and as visiting professor at The Free University of Brussels and the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, FCSH. His main areas of research include human and social ecology, urban and rural development, environmental sociology, natural resource management.

Research Interests:

Human ecology, sustainable development (urban and rural), global environmental change, food security.
