Sandra Saúde has a PhD in Sociology, with specialization in Sociology of Development.  She is Associate Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Beja (IPBeja), Portugal, and researcher at CICS.NOVA – Interdisciplinary Centre of Social Sciences of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal. Between 2009 and 2017, she was Pro-President for Planning and Strategic Development of the Polytechnic Institute of Beja. Over the last 20 years, she has participated in and coordinated several research projects financed by Portuguese and European funds, namely in the area of regional development and evaluation and/or assessment of societal impacts/outcomes of specific projects/events or organisations. Current subjects of scientific interest, with several papers and books already published, include: education and regional development and socioeconomic impacts of higher education.
