Activities aimed at public and private bodies
Toulouse Business School - Campus Barcelona, in partnership with LXNIGHTS, a research network coordinated by Jordi Nofre, and the Sounds Of Tourism project (funded by national FCT funds), are organising the "Talleres BCNit", three in-person working sessions in which the different private and public actors involved in Barcelona's nightlife sector will think, discuss and propose urgent measures for the re-opening, reactivation and recovery of the sector in times of COVID-19 in a safe, responsible and sustainable manner.
Maria João Leote de Carvalho was elected by the National Council of the National Commission for the Promotion of Rights and Protection of Children and Youth (CNPDPCJ) as a member of the Monitoring Committee (CTAM) of the National Strategy for the Rights of the Child for the period 2021-2024 (ENDC 2021-2024).
Regina Salvador, researcher at CICS.NOVA, is in charge of the Jean Monnet Chair awarded by the European Union to the NOVA University of Lisbon. Under the name OCEANID - EU Integrated Maritime Policy and Blue Growth, the project aims to contribute to increase maritime knowledge and promote sustainable growth in this sector, under the sustainable blue growth objective of the European Union.

2nd Meeting UniverCidades: Green and blue Lisbon. This meeting is part of the close collaboration between CIUL - Lisbon Urban Information Centre and the academic world. Each year, it aims to present, through dialogue, reference works on Lisbon developed by each of the intervening entities, around a common theme. CICS.NOVA is a partner in this initiative.

Cecilia Delgado participates in the Programme LEAP – Policy Development Initiative. Cecília Delgado, CICS.NOVA integrated researcher, participates in the Programa LEAP – Policy Development Initiative, with the proposal entitled “Policy instruments to increase peri-urban land availability for organic food production in Portugal, based on a multi-stakeholder approach”.

Sérgio Rosendo, integrated researcher at CICS.NOVA, was Expert Evaluator in the second phase of UE Horizon 2020 calls «LC-BG-03-2018: Sustainable harvesting of marine biological resoures» (Brussels, October, 2018) and «European AXIS Joint Call for Transnational Collaborative Research Projects 2018, Assessment of Cross(X) - sectoral climate Impacts and pathways for Sustainable transformation» (remotely, December, 2018).
Célia Sousa, integrated researcher at CICS.NOVA.IPLeiria, is a consultant for the Government of Cape Verde within a United-Nations funded project about inclusion and accessibility.
Maria José Roxo, integrated researcher at CICS.NOVA, coordinates the FCSH NOVA team in a competence centre created by the Portuguese Government to research and find solutions to the phenomenon of desertification. The Centro de Competências na Luta contra a Desertificação (CCDesert) gather 30 national institutions and is located in Alcoutim, Faro.
CICS.NOVA participated in the National Science Summit ’18 with three communications presented by the researchers Helena Serra, Rui Pedro Julião e Ana Lúcia Teixeira, and three posters presented by the PhD candidates Patrícia Gramaxo, Catarina Lucas e Hu Jing. The National Science Summit ’18 was promoted by the Foundation for Science and Technology, in collaboration with the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture – Ciência Viva, and the Parliamentary Commission of Education and Science, and had the institutional support of the Government through the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education.
The report «EU Kids Online Portugal – 2018: Usos, competências, riscos e mediações da internet reportada por crianças e jovens (9-17 anos)», written by the CICS.NOVA researchers Cristina Ponte and Susana Batista, is the result of the implementation of the EU Kids Online Survey in Portugal. NOVA FCSH coordinated this survey, with the support of the Directorate-General for Education and the DNS.PT Association.
CICS.NOVA published, in 2018, the report «Projetos Educativo e Curricular: contributo para o desenvolvimento de um modelo integrado», coordinated by the integrated researchers Sílvia de Almeida, Susana Batista e Eva Gonçalves, concerning the ESCXEL Project – School Network for Excellence.
Regina Salvador, integrated researcher, collaborated in the project «RIS3-PE For a vision of the Smart Specialisation Strategy in selected innovative territories of the State of Pernambuco», and in its final report. This project analysed the implementation of Smart Specialisation Strategies (RIS3), first in the European Union, and then in other geographical areas.
The integrated researcher João Seixas coauthors the report «Heading South: Rethinking the Eurozone. The Ulysses Study», edited by European Commission within Ulysses Project. This report was the financial support from the Greens/EFA Group of the European Parliament.
Maria João Leote de Carvalho, integrated researcher at CICS.NOVA, was coopted as a person of recognized merit in the area of childhood and youth at risk for the CNPDPCJ - National Commission for the Promotion of Rights and the Protection of Children and Young People.
By invitation of the Fair Trials International and of the International Juvenile Justice Observatory, the researcher Maria João Leote de Carvalho, within the framework of her post-doc project developed at CICS.NOVA and financed by FCT, participated at the Regional Meeting “Advancing the Defence Rights of Children (ADRC)”, promoted by Leiden University, Netherlands (January 20-28, 2018).
The Escxel project team was invited to join a OCDE study about pedagogical innovation within the framework of the research project «Innovative Pedagogies for Powerful Learning – Networks». The Centre for Educational Research and Innovation from OCDE invited the researchers, the partner schools and the professors to answer a questionnaire on several issues worked by the ESCXEL network.

CICS.NOVA OBSERVATORY FOR TECHNOLOGY ASSESSMENT (OAT) was approved as an associate member of the European Parliamentary Technology Assessment (EPTA).
The integrated researcher and coordinator of CICS.NOVA.IPLeiria, José Carlos Marques, coauthors the report «Empreender 2020 – O regresso de uma geração preparada. Diagnóstico de situação atual e Modelo de Prospetivo de Desenvolvimento», edited by AEP Foundation within the project Empreender 2020.
Regina Salvador, integrated researcher at CICS.NOVA, is member of Pool of Experts from United Nations since 2015. She contributes to the elaboration of the report "Regular Process for Global Reporting and Assessment of the State of the Marine Environment, Including socioeconomic aspects". United Nations publishes this report every two years.
